In this roundtable, organized in the framework of the International Conference on Urban Affairs (April 15-19, 2025 | Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre) the focus will be on two key types of Nature-based Solutions: ecosystem-based approaches to disaster risk reduction (Eco-DRR) and ecosystem-based climate change adaptation (EbA). Across the globe, various organizations and governments at global, national, and local levels are increasingly investing in Eco-DRR and EbA strategies, despite the limited scientific understanding of the equity outcomes of NbS. At the event the discussion will precisely highlight both the cost-effectiveness of NbS and their equity implications, exploring also potential financing mechanisms for scaling NbS, with a particular focus on the emerging role of the insurance and reinsurance sectors as key partners to the public sector in supporting NbS implementation. Naturance and its results, will be part of the conversation.
