In response to the growing demand for more inclusive climate action, the NBS EduWORLD project has launched a practical Youth Inclusion Toolkit. This resource aims to transform how local governments engage with young people in designing and implementing Nature-based Solutions (NbS) for a resilient, equitable future.
Built through a co-creative process involving young people aged 16–30, educators, municipal authorities, and other EU-funded NbS projects, the toolkit offers local governments practical tools to embed youth participation into decision-making processes. Its guiding principle is simple but powerful: True inclusion means working with youth, not for them.
The toolkit includes 12 flexible tools, from hackathons, role play games, youth councils, and participatory mapping to innovative citizen science methods and engagement in “third spaces” like parks and libraries. These tools have been tested and validated across multiple European cities and tailored for both formal and informal education settings.
