The CMCC Foundation has been invited by the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) to contribute to the Working Group on Nature (WGN) as a technical partner, in recognition of its expertise developed through the NATURANCE project. This initiative supports insurers in identifying, assessing and managing nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities across underwriting, risk management, products and strategies, contributing to the implementation of the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. CMCC’s technical contribution to the WGN focuses in particular on advancing methodologies and analytical approaches for assessing nature-related insurance risks and opportunities.
Verena Kraus, Senior Manager at the UNEP FI and global lead for nature and insurance, will also join NATURANCE festival | Insurance and Investment Opportunities for Nature-Based Transformations as a speaker. Verena talk is scheduled for Day 1 – Session 2, bringing extensive experience in advancing insurers’ practical approaches to integrating nature-related risks and opportunities into underwriting frameworks and supporting the transition towards a nature-positive future.
