SUMMARY:WEBINAR – Gross ecosystem product assessment in the Apennines of Emilia-Romagna
DESCRIPTION:On May 16th, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM, NATURANCE coordinator Jaroslav Mysiak (CMCC) gave a speech during the first webinar of the ARCADIA project ( https://www.arcadia-adaptation.eu/ ), where he presented the upcoming Finance Innovation Festival ( https://www.naturanceproject.eu/events/finance-innovation-festival/ ). Alessandro Bosso (Art-ER) introduced the experimentation of the Gross Ecosystem Product (GEP), a metric that translates ecosystem contributions to the economy into monetary terms.\nThe presented case study focuses on the Parma East Mountain Union in the Apennines of the Emilia-Romagna region, Italy. GEP evaluates ecosystem services such as CO₂ uptake, water purification, flood regulation, erosion protection, habitat quality, and recreational services, demonstrating its potential as a powerful tool for enhancing land management governance.\n\nAbout ARCADIA\nARCADIA ( https://www.arcadia-adaptation.eu/ ) is a project funded by HORIZON Europe Innovation Actions in response to the call “Testing and demonstrating transformative solutions on climate resilience, mainstreaming nature based solutions in the systemic transformation”. The main goal of ARCADIA project is to mobilise 8 European regions and communities – from Italy, Croatia, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Bulgaria, Romania and Slovenia – to accelerate nature-based solutions (NBS) adoption and assist them in accessing up-to-date, evidence-based actionable knowledge, guidance, knowledge-intense tools and services, mutual learning and networking opportunities.\n \n
